About Our Products

www.ukpast.com is owned and run by Bibliopolis Books and is the place to buy local history and genealogy CD-ROMs online.

CD-ROMS

Most of our products are in CD-ROM format. They contain 3 types of publication:

Facsimile reproductions of old printed books

These are made up of the scanned pages of a book and are designed to reproduce the original work as closely as possible. They are usually large PDF files and can be viewed and printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader or similar software. The print quality will vary according to the original book - some old books are difficult to reproduce because the print has faded. As facsimiles, these CD-ROMs are NOT searchable, but they usually contain indexes. Please note that some of these CD-ROMs can make high demands of your computer's virtual memory.

Digitized text versions of old books

Instead of the original scans, the pages of these books have been converted to text. This is particularly useful when the original is difficult to read because of small print size or deterioration due to age. They are also PDF files and can be viewed, printed and SEARCHED using Adobe Acrobat Reader or similar software. They do not normally contain illustrations.

Bibliopolis originals.

These are not based on previously published books, but are original Bibliopolis publications, either local histories or collections of data, such as transcriptions of census returns, parish registers etc. They can be viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader and are also searchable.

e-books

In October 2007, we began selling some of our products as digital downloads. If you wish to buy downloads, please visit our separate downloads website, www.genealogy-direct.co.uk

This service is hosted by eJunkie.com and your payments will go through a separate Shopping Cart to your CD Book orders.

Payments

We accept online credit and debit card payments via Paypal. We also accept sterling cheques (only those drawn on a British bank account). Orders will only be dispatched when payment has been received and cleared. Please note that when payments are made via Paypal or cheque, your payment should be made to Bibliopolis Books.

Other Outlets

We also sell our CD-ROMs via major websites such as Amazon, ABE, The Parish Chest and GENfair . If you would prefer to purchase via those companies, please go to their websites & search under the CD title.

Customer services & complaints

We hope that you never have any reason to complain to us, but if you do, please contact customer services. In our experience, most technical problems, can be sorted out. However, if we can't resolve your problem, we will replace the product or reimburse you.

Bibliopolis Books is a mail order only business. Our premises are not open to the public.

Bibliopolis Books has made every effort to establish that the original publications used to produce its CD-ROMs and downloads are out of copyright. If anyone has any information to the contrary, please contact us urgently at info@bibliopolis.co.uk.

Bibliopolis CD-ROMs are safe to use and contain no executable files (programs). Bibliopolis Books hold no responsibility for any problems arising from the misuse of our CDs.
